God’s Sunrise
I rose this morning to watch the night fade away
Into the glorious brightness of another day.
Above me in the velvet sky the stars still shone,
Yet in the east, faint but sure, light began to dawn.
And brighter, clearer it grew. I stood there, still awed
For truly I saw revealed the glory of God.
The clouds once darkened by the shades of earthly night
Reflect to human eyes nearly heavenly light.
I saw the crimson and gold perfectly combined
Beyond the skill of an earthly mastermind.
I saw displayed there a love far beyond compare
And cried, "Lord what is man that you would even care?"
Bring sunrise into my heart, my darkness dispel;
Let me shine ever for You, that I your love may tell;
The dark will disappear in heaven's shining light,
The Word of God revealed to feeble human sight.
